I just chased a BEAR out of my apple tree!

3d;

You missed the part about the several OTHER choices of apple trees with a couple hundred yards that I am perfectly happy to share...
Just not THIS tree.
Bears are awfully rough on trees, and THIS tree is one of the few parts of the landscaping I actively maintain...

The bears are welcome to the other apple trees...

[quote 3d]Let the bear have some apples. It's not like you're gonna eat ALL of them are you? An ex-gf of mine had two asian-pear trees in her parents backyard. There were so many pears they just let them drop and rot on the ground. They could care less.
Ha-
that's exactly what my three asian pear trees look like right now.
I only have ants eating them.

Lafinil, good one!

Eureka! Put a sign in your tree that says, "No bears allowed. Or my lion-cat will hunt you down sans mercy!"

That will send those bears running for the hills. That is, if they're a) literate, and b) gullible. This might be a longshot (hee hee, no pun intended), but perhaps worth a try.
