Open your ears...Jamendo

I've often said that the old fashioned music distribution model is a thing of the past. Some people on here have taken me to task for it. I'm sticking to my guns and saying that this website is an example of what is coming:

About Jamendo:

I'm not saying that Jamendo is going to succeed, but they have the right idea and I think that they'll do OK.

Albums are free to download. Licensed using Creative Commons. Distributed with Bittorrent. If you like it, make a donation. The site host takes a slice, the rest goes to the artist. Music the way it should be.

The site is well-designed, listening to music without downloading is a breeze. Unfortunately, so far, I haven't found anything that I really like- and I have quite eclectic taste. Free, legal music that I like- now that would be perfection. Closest so far is eMusic- not free, but cheap, and I use all my credits every month in about 15 minutes. The Jamendo streaming is far better than eMusic's though.

cheers, and thanks for the heads-up

Interesting. I'm sure that will have it's niche. I've really been enjoying lala.com. It's amazingly addictive. I was initially worried I wouldn't have any cd's people would want, but so far, I've been quite surprised (no one's asked for my "wedding singer" cd yet though!). kj.
