$25 more gets you a 3 year warranty -- which if Im reading this right is pretty impressive:

Just remembered, the father of my college roommate was a Memorex exec and he grilled me for 30min about why I preferred TDK and Maxell. This was in the middle of the audio tape heyday and this guy was furious that Memorex fell so far behind and ignored all of the new trends. NO ONE that was WAY into cassette taping bought memorex.

He left the company just a few months later.
