I certainly get the two view interpretations of both the young-woman/old-hag and the duck/rabbit, but I don't get the comment about the cork soundproofing. Explanation please.

I wanted a pair of these when I was a kid. Never seemed to have the extra cash to order them.

You know they HAVE to work, as there are lightning bolts shooting out when you put them on.
