Vendor post-order switch. Call 'em on it, or forget it?
#1
Ordered some designer sunglasses from a vendor in the midwest. Price was great, and website, at time of order, stated they came with original case, box, and materials. Shortly after ordering, website added banner, "Hurry, only 3 left...". Package arrived today (after they closed), w/ only sunglasses and instruction sheet; no case, box, cleaning cloth, thank you card w/ designer contact info, and cardboard w/ plastic optician shipping unit that usually come with the brand's wares. Now, the website says, "Only 1 left..." and in the description has been changed to say, "Do not forget to store your designer sunglasses in a protective case when you are not wearing them to preserve their opulent quality for years to come."

Should I raise heck w/ 'em tomorrow? Though I'm guessing they're out of actual cases/boxes, etc. FWIW, while the model is still current, the colorway is not, which is part of their business model. They mostly sell that kind of stuff at good discounts. My gripe is kinda that they did a bait and switch. I probably would've bought 'em anyway w/ the bare bones shipping for the deal I got, but at the time I ordered, the website still touted the whole package was included.

They still have over 5 dozen models from the designer, and after President's Day, they seemed to have lowered prices on lots of them that used to come w/ cases/boxes, etc.. Now, I checked a handful that I noticed price drops for, and all of them had the get-your-own protective case disclaimer, so I'm thinking maybe they sold 'em off en masse, or maybe the designer had an option to recall them. The cases/boxes go for $20 - $50 online, mostly in the $25 - $40 range, but the price drops on the website were mostly in the $60+ range.

P, B, & M, or STFU?
Thanks.

Could they be fake? I remember reading that you can find counterfeit Oakelys and other similar brands on eBay, Amazon, etc a few years ago.

Will they pay RETURN shipping? If so, give them the option of a discount for getting LESS than you were promised or, send them back. I bet they offer a discount. If they WON'T pay return S/H, tell them you'll file a dispute with your credit card company. They should come around.

First thing I thought of too.

Hope you got screen saves of the item page, etc. because the
vendor has failed to fulfill the terms of sale in most jurisdictions.
You might want to contact your CC company now rather than later.

Not fakes. They do pay return USPS shipping. Since I got 15% off for Prez Day, plus used $25 in "points" that otherwise would've expired, I'm still over $43 ahead of their current deal, and at least $27 ahead of any other deal, for any other colorway I can find on the internet. I guess I oughta grind on 'em a little bit, then settle for a generic protective case and a couple of cleaning cloths? It'll be at least 5-6 years, if not more, before I think about getting new glasses frames, so "store credit" isn't gonna do me any good.

Heck, I still have a couple of pair of gold-filled Ray-Ban frames from the 1960's I can't bear to part with, some Nikon frames from the 1980's I still use, and some Marchon Flexon frames from the 1990's as spares/emergency glasses. All the 1970's frames are long gone, as are the other "non-classic" frames from over the years. I'm not planning on living long enough to worry about the disposition of the new batch, they'll be Baby Buzz's problem. Thankfully, he likes my old stuff.

Here's Baby Buzz in 2012, wearing some of my old 1980's Nikon's from a couple of years before I met his mother.

BTW, photo taken w/ SX40, literally from across a football stadium, while I was on the shady side, and the kids were [obviously] on the sunny side.
