If you're like me and thought...
Creed, huh? Hmmmm... this Rocky thing has REALLY been played out... I mean all the way out. There can't possibly be more to say in this story universe - right?
I actually liked Creed. It could have been told without Rocky being in the movie at all. The story of Apollo Creed's kid was an interesting idea and it worked. I enjoyed it.
Enter Creed II. The IMBD reviews are almost just as good so I blindly watch it.
MISTAKE!
it's a bad remake of Rocky 4. Dolph Lundgren is back and has brought his kid along for the ride. Maybe better writing could have made this interesting... the idea that Drago as fallen hero of the proletariat to a loser nobody with NO perks in commie USSR could have been interesting. But it wasn't.
Once you recognize the setup (after the first 10 minutes), you could take a poll and I bet 90% of all viewers would tell the same story of how the movie would go from that point and they'd all be right. This is THE MOST predictable movie ever. Even for a Rocky movie - they're ALL predictable, but many of them managed to be fun anyway.
Not this... I just watched the rest of the movie unfold just as it did in my head. What a bore.
I'd give it 4 out of 10. Good acting, good production, but not a good movie.
