Changing a battery should not be so incredibly hard. After blowing over an hour with Apple chat and them confirming my local Apple Store is booked out for repairs, the only option was to send me a box. So they did that a few weeks ago. The box arrived a few days later, and it was shipped off. A week or so goes by and it comes back. It has a new battery (for free too, FWIW), but since it's glued to the top cap assembly, they replaced the keyboard too.
But rather than a US keyboard, they gave me a European one. Apple opened a new case. It turns out, the box they sent it to us with cannot be used to send it back, so they had to send us a new one. A week and a half later, the box finally arrived. Now it will be sent back to Apple, again. At best it will have taken them a month to replace the battery.
