I just did this today on an envelope I keep on an upper shelf in a stack of similar sized boxes. It's in a stack of tie boxes, but being an envelope doesn't have an end I can write on. Wrote what tie was in it at the top, with it the envelope vertical. Pulling it out from the stack a little showed that info upside down, so I wrote it again the other way around.
I wish engineering schools did more teaching of design. Was telling my son at dinner about how the LED displays (radio, HVAC, clock, etc.) on my 2003 Audi put out polarized light. Can't read at least half of them when I wear polarized sunglasses, unless I tilt my head at an odd angle. You'd think people making displays for a car would think that someone might wear polarized sunglasses. I've had similar problems on other vehicles with LCD displays.
Good luck.

I have problems with the polarized glasses issue in one of my cars. I guess it is the MINI. The odometer of the Nissan Quest is unreadable due to the failure of the digital display.
As for the amplifier problem, I wish the backplate was hinged at the top so you could flip it up to see what is back there without having to climb into the cabinet. Lights and mirrors help some but it is still a problem. (Great use for reflective CD/DVDs).

Depending on the location of your TV, plus the fact that your Spouse CANNOT be home, I have removed the entire back wall of my console. The holes provided are a PIA to try to use. Too small and poorly located.
I don't use any bright lights in my "man cave." Paint the back wall of the house Black (just the part of the opening of the console, if you must.
Life is still an adventure!
