meh, if you need it now, just buy it. =)
I mean, $90 is average... even if you found 10% off... thats $9... barely enough for a decent fast food lunch...

I just picked one up at https://www.bhphotovideo.com/ - free expedited shipping and no tax; pricing varies with color.

Got this 5TB Seagate from Staples:
https://www.staples.com/seagate-5tb-backup-plus-portable-usb-3-0-external-hard-drive-blue-sthp5000402/product_24383779 Currently $99.99 Coupon code 57501 for $20 off $80 for lowers it to $79.99, although it was $5 less when I bought it a week and a half ago. Same drive in red: https://www.staples.com/seagate-5tb-backup-plus-portable-usb-3-0-external-hard-drive-red-sthp5000403/product_24383772 Also, Google Express has several options, including some WD, and if you've never bought anything through them, you get 20% off your first purchase (up to $20).

Keep checking Slickdeals. I got a 4TB Seagate portable From Staples a couple weeks ago for $79 including shipping and tax. People are afraid of Seagates, but the 2 TB Slims and the 4 TB portable drives have been very good to me the last 5 years. Got this 4TB to replace a 2TB that was plugged into an Airport Extreme for Time Machine Backups of all of our Macs. I was running out of space but was willing to wait a couple weeks to save a few bucks on the drive.
You can kill yourself looking for deals, but it you can grab a WD or Seagate External portable for $75-100, go for it. Both seem very solid for backup, and it's great not to have to worry about a clunky power supply. |
