Suggestions for Mom’s phone in assisted living
#1
Here is a baby boomer problem. My Mom will be going in to long term care. They do not have phones in long term but I always had a prepaid flip phone for her travels and if Comcast voip phone went out. I will be shutting off the Comcast triple play so that home number will go away.

What are the odds of transferring her home (voip) number to a prepaid T-Mobile flip phone?
Not good I bet. I can also just let friends and family know her number has changed but it will be a hassle.
They have WiFi at the Long Term facility so I thought about using her Alexa Dot for calling.

This will probably be a moot point as she declines but thought I would give it a shot.
Any suggestions about setting up a cheap but big button wireless phone or other suggestions appreciated.

FWIW, Depending on her abilities an Alexa Echo May be a welcome addition ... video calls made easy. And you can also just “drop in”.

Best use case! You should have no issues porting her number. Have you considered porting her home number to a google voice as well?

Thanks for the feedback. Been rather hectic for a few days. Looks like the Alexa is a no go as I don’t believe it would be of much benefit in this case. Can you school me on the Google Voice porting. That would be better than the flip as I would have the choice of forwarding calls to any number?
