The Lite-On LVW-5115GHC+ DVD Recorder that was such a bargain at Geeks.com in September crapped out on me last night. No matter what type of disk I put in, it fails to read it. I've tried everything I know to do to it but it doesn't seem to work. The tuner's still fine but the DVD drive seems to be dead. Guess you get what you pay for.

Lite On does not have a very good reputation from what I read on BB's. Cheap price but you get what you pay for.

My 2 year old LVW-5005 is doing fine, but I bought it new.
Geeks still sells that REFURB 5115 and you should be within the 90 day warranty periord. Call them and demand another unit.

My LiteOn Combo drive went south after about a year of just using it for reading DVDs for backing them up.
