pretty much sums it up. don't have Word. would rather not use an Adobe product but can if it's the only (and best) thing.
easy way to convert/save .ODT docs to PDF ?

You can probably do it using LibreOffice. Not MSFT or ADBE

.odt is a native LibreOffice format.
Open the file, under the 'File' menu is the option to 'Export As >' Choose 'Export As PDF...' ![]()

Open it in LibreOffice and save it as a PDF.

Also, anything you can print in OSX you can make a pdf out of. Hit print, and choose an option from the pdf dropdown in the lower left of the print window.

never mind.... I forgot that I had Open Office... (and it's free)
