question about upgraded drivers license

The passport RFID chip security was hacked in less than a day of the first passports hitting the streets.

I don't know if they have changed it, but when first released the RFID passports had no encryption at all. So there was no security to hack.

I do know that other cards and devices were adding RFID chips around that time. A few engineering grad students here took some off the shelf equipment and tested to see how far away the chips could be read. With a setup that could fit in a small case, they were able to read RFID chips from 30 or more feet.

I have yet to see a reasonable explanation of what nefarious things someone can do having scanned my passport, or drivers license, RFID chip.

I don't really worry about it.

I skipped the enhancement and will use my passport which has no chip.

And, once again, I’m wrong.
