While mac and pc file formats have been native for some time there is one problem that I am having which I would love a solution for. I create most of my files on mac but use them on a pc at school. The one problem I have is when I open a file on mac that I last edited on pc the page is not as long.
For example, I made a worksheet on balancing and made some changes to it on my pc work computer. There were 13 problems on the first page. When I opened the file on my home mac problem 13 does not fit on the first page, its been pushed to the second page.
If I adjust the line returns on that document so problem 13 fits on the first page and then open it on my work pc problem 13 will be closer to problem 12 than 12 is to 11. Is there a solution to this?

I have not seen this problem, but if I had this issues, I wold check these things:
1) make sure both computers have the same page format (letter size). if one is set to A4, the length is different
2) Check margings on both computers, set them identical. Say 1/2 all around, or whatever the default is in one machine, make sure it matches the other machine
3) check also the page format in the PRINTER. make sure they are also the same (letter), and margins match
4) make sure both versions of word are somewhat close in age. Don't use Office 365 on Mac with word 97 at school,
5) if all fails, use PDF

Space-Time is most correct. Printer settings is the usual culprit, and fonts are the next culprit. Set hard margins. Set up the same printer on your Mac (probably have to fake one).

I cant find any differences on my pc and mac in relation to space-time suggestions. I just tried the PDF solution and something interesting happened. The first pic is the original open on my mac. The second is what it looks like after saving as a pdf on my mac. This is just like the problem I have when I take files from home to work and vice versa.

Insert a page break after question 10.

That works Space-Time. I would love to know what is causing the problem and how to avoid it but at least I can go into my documents (that's a lot after 30 years of teaching/professoring) and keep the pages organized the same way. Thanks.

It is a little dark ages, but I would figure out which computer has the most stable format and create a blank template on that computer and then just make a copy of it instead of creating a new one.

Make sure the fonts are exactly the same. Some fonts, even though the same name, are slightly different between Mac and PC.
