I would disagree with that interpretation of the definitions, but "social distancing" would still not be an oxymoron any more than "social isolation".

Deus,

I can go with social distancing not necessarily being an oxymoron. I interpret it that way since the term at heart is about physically distancing oneself from others. That implies, not socializing. Social isolation? Definitely more of an oxymoron. Can't be social and isolate oneself from others simultaneously. Doesn't work.
