I really want to give these CW superhero shows the benefit of the doubt. (Generalized spoilers, nothing specific)

So I recently learned about the full season of Batwoman Being available to stream on The CW. I was intrigued at first. However, it got really dark really fast. I’m not sure I truly enjoy the dark emotional roller coaster of the first season. It’s gut wrenching at times and there is no happy ending. To most, if not all episodes. That is rough. Not sure I can finish the season. Stargirl is a little better, but why all the endless killing?

Guess I’m old fashioned. I used to follow the Flash when it first came out. I don’t remember the killing except for ultra bad guys, by the good guys and there were happy-ish endings. I guess they played up some of the flash’s past history, but it did not seem as gratuitous. Am I wrong? Do I remember it incorrectly?

....Batwoman is dark and the story lines are not the best.....

.....Stargirl is more 'traditional' in that it isn't as dark but there was that one episode, last week which was very dark......

....Arrow [ before it went of air ], Flash and Supergirl.......have gone downhill due to poor writing....story lines are bad for the last few seasons......when one has to force oneself to watch it, then the quality is not as good........

.....only 'DC Legends of Tomorrow' is at least 'goofy/comical'..........

Thanks, Newt! Glad I’m not the only one. I don’t feel so bad about not following flash or supergirl. Those were my go to for a few seasons. Oh well.

Star Force, anyone? I saw the trailer. I really wanna see it, but I don’t subscribe to Netflix.

....you mean 'Space Force'.....I think the reviews were bad.....one said high concept but the follow through isn't as good....meaning the premise was good but it wasn't funny enough....I haven't seen it yet though.....

I never got around to watching the CW-DC shows. Even though I'm really attached to the DC characters

They are all a long watch. Take the good with the bad.

I watched the first couple of seasons of all of them... some were deeper and darker like arrow, some were fun and campy, like SG and Legends. In the end, just got too busy to watch.

Did the same with Shield. first 2 seasons, then it went somewhere weird... and I just never came back. Thought I might rewatch now that most are available for streaming... and just couldnt do it.

Space Force... I kept wanting something funny to happen... but it just never did. The premise seemed cool... but it was like trying to be funny, without actually being funny.

It used to be an unwritten Hollywood rule that you never killed kids. That's long gone. Sad

WAS being the operative word. When it started, Ollie was killing dudes left and right.
