The New Orleans Police Department along with other law enforcement agencies held a news conference Friday to address enforcement of COVID-19 protocols heading into the Mardi Gras weekend.
NOPD Superintendent Shaun Ferguson announced that all bars would be closed starting Friday and will be closed through Mardi Gras day.
This also applies to bars operating as restaurants with the A.R. conditional permits.
Street closures in the French Quarter also include the closures of Bourbon Street, Frenchman Street, and the Claiborne Avenue corridor.
There will be no sales of packaged liquor in the French Quarter.
No pedestrians or vehicles will be allowed on Bourbon, Decatur and Frenchmen streets between the hours of 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. with the exception of residents, employees, hotel guests and restaurant/retail goers.
