"Stun guns" require one to touch the assailant.
"Taser" is the brand name of a line of products that shoot barbs connected to wires which are connected to a power source.
TI is definitely "targeting" women as the principle civilian market, but no reason why men should consider it.
Lots of police departments have stopped using stun guns, and a few have stopped using Tasers, but a lot of them are adopting Tasers.

If you look at the press release page of TI's website, the lawsuits against them are being dismissed or thrown out one after another.

15 - 21 feet is too close for comfort for me. A person has ONE CHANCE to just HIT their target. ....and then HOPE it will penetrate, both barbs hit, and shock them. That's why I have 20 chances to hit, or penetrate, on me at all times.

The Taser is designed to be a non-lethal weapon. It would not be used (and should not be used) in place of deadly force when deadly force in needed.
If it's the only thing you have, it's better than nothing.
But if you use 20rnds when a Taser would have been appropriate, you have bigger problems.
Excluding drive-by shootings, most gunfights have and do take place in 7-10'.
THAT's too close for comfort, but that's what we get to work with.

It's all a situation. Most of us will never have to be referred to as "all rounds expended".

I'm with 'Minty, anyone who dials a wrong number twice should get a jolt.
(Normally I'd go with just once for wrong number, but I'm feeling liberal this morning. )
