I bought the Envoy Pro with 1TB NVMe Aura Pro X from OWC (purchased MAR 2019) for my 2017 MacBook Air 7,2 (purchased FEB 2019). I removed the Apple 128GB NVMe from my new MBA, then installed the OWC 1TB NVMe into the MBA (flawless performance from the OWC upgrade). The 128GB NVMe made its way into the Envoy Pro (the slim silver USB 3 enclosure).
I was recently attempting to set up the Envoy Pro with the Apple 128GB NVMe for being able to transfer files between Mac (Catalina and Monterey) & PC (Win10) computers. I tried these different scenarios of formatting on Mac, then tested on my Flight Sim PC (with Windows 10 and latest updates).
Formatted on Mac: MBR - MS-DOS (FAT) on Envoy Pro with the Apple 128GB NVMe
- PC could not recognize Envoy, and failed to format
Formatted on Mac: MBR - ExFAT on Envoy Pro with the Apple 128GB NVMe
- PC was able to read Envoy and see some test pdf files, could not open them.
- Moving some PC test pdf files onto Envoy then back to Mac, Mac could not see any files
Formatted on Mac: GPT - MS-DOS (FAT) on Envoy Pro with the Apple 128GB NVMe
- PC required format and could do so in NTFS
- Moving some PC test files onto Envoy then back to Mac, Mac could not see any files
(NTFS on Envoy not a solution since Mac can't write to it)
Formatted on Mac: GPT - ExFAT on Envoy Pro with the Apple 128GB NVMe
- PC required format and could do so in NTFS
- Moving some PC test files onto Envoy then back to Mac, Mac could not see any files
(NTFS on Evnoy not a solution since Mac can't write to it)
Anyone have experience with the Envoy Pro doing file transfers like this? Maybe I am trying to ask the Envoy Pro to do something that it cannot do.
I will likely just assign the Envoy Pro for duty to the Mac only, it has been working fine on my Mac.
