Sidebar appeared on Finder window

A blank vertical panel appeared on the right side of the Finder window. I hit some key—have no idea what—and there it was. When a file name in the Finder window is single-clicked, the title and an image of the Finder file appears in the window on the right.

Interesting feature. How do I turn it off?

I'm guessing that you chose view "as columns". Here is an Apple support page about that.

It's the Preview sidebar.

Command+Shift+P to toggle.
