I like the 30s, 40s, and 50s when pastels were an option.
From time to time I'd see a vintage car in a yellow or green that looked great.
Even in the 70s, maybe 80s, there were a lot more crayons in the box then than now.
The near-clone of my 1976 Buick Regal in Mount Vernon Cream w/ Buckskin trim.

It has been followed by five pearl white Lexus's (Lexii?) and an Acura MDX, all with tan leather interiors. Three tan w/ tan minivans have provided schlepping duty along the way, too. We always go to the L.A. Auto Show, and they've had tons of chameleon paint jobs over the years.... the trouble is, it's been impossible to get a photo that does those paint jobs true justice. They are, however, a joy to behold in person. We do get plenty here in SoCal; lots of real paint, and many with wraps thrown in/on.
I'm w/ Rammie; right car + right color = looks good.
IRL, I like lots of bold colors, but for cars, it's gotta be a light color, and the car gods haven't been favorable in that department in like decades. Pearly white, not refrigerator white has sufficed while I wait for the automakers to come around, or we win the lotto to be able to afford either the super-fancy cars that have some nice, light colors, or a custom paint job for an otherwise reasonably affordable car.
