Recap on Drugs for Colonoscopy (semi-long)
#1
If anyone cares to read a follow up to my original post

I survived . I was transferred from the professional building to the hospital “Endo” section. They did use an anesthesiologist (Dr. Jake) who used Profocol which was described as the Michael Jackson drug.

Talked to the Dr. who ran the procedure. Asked about the letter I received explaining that Versed and Demerol were “usually used” and was told that this was old school and that Profocol was easier to monitor and quicker to recover from. Good news is Nothing was found and I apparently did not babble like a loon when coming back from lights out through 99 percent of the scope.

One exciting event from the night before, the kit I bought for cleansing I thought would contain the whole package of ingredients. It contained only 2 six ounce bottles of liquid “cleanser” Suprep which were mixed with water. At 8pm I was to take 2 Dulcolax tablets which my friend said would be in the “kit”. They were not. So at 8pm my wife was kind enough to call the pharmacy to confirm Dulcolax was OTC and found in aisle 14, so road trip (just a few blocks). I bought the generic which was 1/2 the cost and the exact same formula.

I panicked and wanted to confirm that this was the correct course of action and called the endo help line. I was called back at 3:30am and they confirmed that it is indeed OTC. I recommended they say (OTC) in their instructions so old guys like me don’t panic.

I had to get up for the 2nd bottle of prep mix at 4am anyway so no harm no bowel, er foul. So everything came out OK in the end. I DID get the heavy hitter Profocol, it went well (out like a light) and recovered quickly. At home I slept to recover my missing sleep from the night before. I dreamt I was selected by the Red Hot Chili Peppers to be in a band video. They found two other folks more talented than me so I basically stood around while they set up the shots with the two much more talented street people.

Good times. I will report back in 7 years. Please watch for my video.

Profocol was the best drug for the knock you out wake you up get you out of there sequence.

I like Lewis Black's Take On His Colonoscopy. Start at one minute into the video for the colonoscopy story.

Numerous comedians do a number on colonoscopies.
