thanks for the heads up. I always forget.

Our Sportsmans' Club does a kids fishing derby every may or june. We get about 400 or so 4 yo trout from DFW and build a big pond. The city kids get to experience fishing. They can keep or release. WE have people there to teach the kids, and others to help clean the ones that they opt to keep.

One year they accidentally gave us some 5 yo trout that were quite large, just over a foot long and very robust. Someone got in a lot of trouble, as they were a special batch for some study. Set them back 5 years, but it was epic watching a foot long rainbow trout shoot out of the fish cannon into the pond we built. And we gladly ate the left-overs at a big club fish fry the following Wednesday.

a license for saltwater fishing is bogus. never used to need it, just another revenue stream.
