Okay, we'll let the politicians rip him to pieces

Treasury secretary sees ‘no basis’ to investigate Musk’s Twitter takeover. Yellen’s comments come less than a week after President Joe Biden said he would support a U.S. government review of the investors backing Musk's acquisition of Twitter.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen does not see a reason to investigate Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter, she told CBS News in an interview Tuesday.

“We really have no basis — to the best of my knowledge — to examine his finances of his company,” Yellen told CBS News chief White House correspondent Nancy Cordes.

Yellen’s comments come less than a week after President Joe Biden said he would support a U.S. government review of the investors backing the Tesla and SpaceX CEO’s $44 billion acquisition of the app.

“I think that Elon Musk’s cooperations and/or technical relationships with other countries is worthy of being looked at,” Biden said during a press conference held the day after the midterm election. “Whether or not he is doing anything inappropriate, I’m not suggesting that. I’m suggesting that it’s worth being looked at and that’s all I’ll say.”

When asked about Biden’s comments during a press briefing, State Department spokesperson Ned Price deferred to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States.

“Well you heard the president yesterday, and the CFIUS process is the normal process through which transactions that might have a national security nexus get reviewed and I will defer to the CFIUS process rather than comment on it further,” Sullivan said.

Yellen, who chairs CFIUS, told CBS she was not sure what Biden “had in mind” with those comments, and said she was “not aware of concerns” that would warrant an investigation.

Billionaires should have the unfettered absolute right to piss away their billions on inexplicable ego trips.

I'm happy to see this.

Whether or not Musk is up to skullduggery, I'll assume until evidence say otherwise, that Yellen has done due diligence.

And in doing so she's found no reason to investigate, and feels free to say so, possibly contrary to Biden's comments and maybe wishes.

It wasn't that long ago when a president took a page out of the Hoover Handbook and said 'Investigate!' meaning find some dirt and use it, and the FBI or other ABC agency turned to and did the Prez's bidding.

Or a president said 'Don't look behind that curtain!' and a USAG 'whatever you say, Boss!'

Of course if Yellen is suddenly a Walmart Greeter, then I'll recant.
