One of my sister's kids used to eat them.
(I saw it with my own two eyes.)
(just AA and AAA)
For a short period of time, none of the remotes in the house worked. :-)

Edit: I think he was three at the time.

Great for hurricane season when you can't always depend on having power to recharge the rechargeables... will be picking some up. (And yes, the rest of the time I use rechargeables).

Once a year, at Halloween, I need a few dozen batteries. Rechargeables would cost far more, and would be trashed in maybe 2 years if used only once a year.
