Who do we like for color laser printers?
#1
Hi all,

I seem to have collected a bunch of these that aren't working in various ways, and it's apparent that's it's cheaper to buy new than to try to repair. (The only advantage of trying to repair would be that I still have a bunch of toner cartridges for them.)

So... who are we currently liking for color laser printers? Any especially good deals out there recently? (I would want something that at least duplexes and for which the toners aren't outrageously expensive...)

I've checked my local Craigslist, and there's not much to be had there... and it seems you can get something new for about the price of a used one anyway...

I had Brother monochrome laser duller ringers that worked well. When the last one failed, I asked this august body the same question. At that time, Canon got the nod. I bought a Canon LBP622C/623C and it works well. I bought a MFA series Canon for my permanent home because of price at the time. Both are dulled but neither have scan capability. I have good scanners at both locales.

I did not concern myself with the price of toner cartridges as I only print black daily. I have used aftermarket cartridges in both, but prefer Canon products.

I made the switch from laser (had a more than decent HP (M252dw, bought in 2016) that I lucked out on a gold box sale) to an Epson EcoTank (ET-5880) about a year ago. Only just recently had to add ink. Very happy with it.

(My wife has two EcoTanks in her workshop; an ST-C2100 for regular printing and an F170 for sublimation prints.)

Amending message to say I still like HP for lasers, generally; that M252dw didn't give me much trouble (if anything, occasional misfeeds of paper but that was probably more due to humidity than anything else).

I just got an HP. https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-col...ro-m283fdw

love it. Stupid easy to set up and it just works. I can print from any computer in my home, my phone and can even email files to it to print (from work). It is not a photo printer, so the photo resolution is not the best, but the color reproduction is spot on. I got it on sale at Office Depot.

YMMV

HP laser or Eco-Tank.

It sounds like you haven’t had too much luck with lasers. I’ve been using my Eco tank for about 8 years. Super happy.

I got tired of how unreliable ink jet printers are and switched to color laser and I am very happy. Rock solid. No hassles. I went with the Brother MFC-L3750CDW Digital Color All-in-One Printer. While I like the printer I do have two complaints. 1) The spot where the paper comes out is kind of small and 2) No duplex scanning which was my mistake for not getting the next model up.

Love my brother MFC laser. I’m on my second set of toner. I don’t fret when the kids print whatever. Eventually I’ll set up the eco tank for photo quality.

bought a AIO Canon 4350 in '08. Take up rollers died last year.
Not worth diving into that mess of tiny space. Scan still works.
I'd buy another Canon AIO.
Also have a '03(?) HP 1300 mono that was my spouses office laser for many years before it ended up here. Just put it into service last year.
It's been fine.
