I asked (and received-thanks!) some advice for my brother who was looking at switching from his 15+ years of Windows (ab)use to a Mac.

Well, he gave me a call friday afternoon and said his brand spankin' new Mac Pro was just delivered and if I was free, to drop by and help him set it up. 20 minutes later I was kicking down his door.
This was my first hands on experience with a Mac Pro, and I'm very impressed! What a FAST-FAST-FAST machine the Mac Pro is! He did a BTO directly from Apple and went with the middle of the road processor with a Radeon X1900 XT video card, extra optical drive, plus bluetooth keyboard/mouse.
We played around with it for what seemed like an hour, but when I checked the time, it was almost six hours later! I told him that I should take it home with me for a few days, just to make sure everything was working ok, but he wouldn't have any part of that. Heh.
I was considering going with a 24" iMac (or 30" iMac if one is released), for my next machine but now I may have to reconsider.
