Follow up on "I bring my case to this court" (iPh 11 battery)
#1
When I last posted, my wife's "eBay refurbished excellent 1-year-warrantee" iPhone 11's battery was dying within 3 months of purchase ("significantly degraded and should be replaced" said the iPhone). I had tried to file a claim (SquareTrade, which is now part of Allstate, apparently) and the website said I didn't need to - it could be solved by restoring the iPhone to factory settings!

Yeah, no.

So I chatted online w them, and they were going to send me instructions on how to fix it, no claim needed!

OoooKay. Confusedneaky:

That was last week. No further communication. Grr. Texted with them again today. We'll send you an email with instructions. Yeah, that's what you said before. Not leaving the chat until I see it.

Twenty five minutes later on the chat, still no email. They said they sent it twice. Not in my gmail inbox, nor in junk. BUT, I did receive an email in the same account from Allstate asking how my support experience went today.

:facepalm:

Anyway, finally got a *phone number* from the chat guy, called, and "Malik" approved a new battery. Not an Apple/OEM battery, but a new battery at a local SquareTrade authorized repair shop.

I guess it's better than nothing, right?

Right?

customer service

customer = you
service = them.

them has the last word.

just went thru this with T-Mo Interweb 5G.
we had to tech it, coz they dropped the ball.
they also promised a year of free Paraquat or the like.
Still hasn't happened.

T-Mo $ervice has been very good to us, but their CS and TS blows monkey butt. But at least I'm not speaking to a nearly undecipherable sing-song voice out of the Philippines.

As some one stated earlier today on the DAW-Mac group.

"The internet has given companies the ability to cheat by attrition and to manipulate by page design in order to maximize profit.
Honor and character have no place in that environment.

It’s to our discredit that we humans have built this colossus and allowed it to be run be those who intentionally create difficulties for those they are charged with serving.

Or as Rod Serling put it so well, “To serve man is a cookbook!”
“Art is how we decorate space.
Music is how we decorate time.”

I know people were happy with SqareTrade years ago when they started but then I didn't hear much about them and found out they were bough by AllState. I suspect some accountant at AllState stepped in to maximize their returns.

pdq,

Worth the time and bucks. Wouldn't surprise me if the battery is just fine. However, the phone may recognize that it's a non-Apple battery and flag it. Won't change the functionality, though. It'll just be a nuisance flag displayed somewhere in the settings, which you can ignore.

That happened when a friend had the screen of his iPhone 11 Pro replaced with a less expensive non-Apple model. Just an annoying nuisance flag in the settings. The screen performed so well that he couldn't tell the difference between it and an Apple OEM model. Cost 1/3 the price, too.
