how do you know when you've rowed a 5k? Is that a number of minutes or? It's the one thing that my rower lacks in info. It gives time and strokes only.

No, the whole idea is no movement, although my PT gave me another version that has a little movement.
He also gave me side planks and leg lifts from the side plank.

There are a number of options with the Concept II. I set it up so it counts down from 5k to zero. Read somewhere that counting down is more motivating than counting up.
