Comedy Festival- Will Trump testify?
#1
Naturally, we'd all love to see trumpo in the witness chair...but it has long appeared that the chance is zero...despite his bragging and boasting in the past.

Why can't the world's most innocent man be allowed to defend himself?
yeah right

On the witness stand

he would say it's all a witch hunt and a political persecution and there would be nothing new he would say, he already ran out of lies.

so I pass.

… perjury would ensue the moment he opened his mouth.

Everyone in the courtroom but him would know it.

I'm trying to figure out who the defense will put on the stand.

Heard on the news they may not put anyone on the stand, depending on what the charge to the jury is.
That didn’t make sense to me as I didn’t think the jury was charged till after the defense had presented its case, but maybe there is some way they can get a do over if they don’t like the charge?
They basically have no defense except to hope that the prosecution hasn’t proven beyond a reasonable doubt, I guess.

Steve,

All of the reports say the defense team should tell Trump _not_ to take the stand. However, that doesn't mean Trump will follow their recommendation. He's in charge and may take the stand anyway. If nothing else, it'll finally give him a chance to mouth off about the judge, jury, trial, witness.

I suspect one of the reasons people like Johnson are showing up to speak about the trial is because Trump realized the Judge isn't going to tolerate his continued violations of the gag order. Violating it isn't in his best interest even if he claims he's willing to go to jail for violating it despite being held in contempt already. So, he had his cronies show up to speak on his behalf since they aren't under a gag order.

If you look on Politico.com, there is an article that goes over the missteps of Trump's legal team so far and it mentions that it is partially due to his lawyers but some are likely due to Trump's wishes, which they are generally required to abide by unless it is something so horrendous that they can tell him, "Nope. Not a chance."

He has already claimed that he can't testify because of the gag order.

This is, of course, total bullshit. But it will be his excuse to the willfully ignorant on why he didn't testify.
