Looking for GPS recommendation
#1
Looking for a recommendation for the best GPS unit for a Mac user. So far I've been leaning towards one of the TomTom's or a Garmin unit.

Like my Garmin i5. No official Mac support yet but it's supposedly coming.

Costco has a great deal right now on the high-end Garmin Nuvi.

Make that Costco.com.

TomTom has a Mac client that does most everything the Windows version does, and I think it's a universal binary app.

I have a Garmin iQue 3600(Palm-based), and would get a Tom Tom if I could do it over again.

The Garmin works just fine, but is a bear to set up, IMHO. Nothing is intuitive. If using with a Mac, you need Missing Sync ($40 from Mark Space). Navigating through the windows to do what you want is not that easy. If you turn it off, then try to set up a route from a different starting point, you have to fool it to get that new point established as the current location. Definitely not Mac-like.

I have the iQue 3600 as well, and would get the TomTom as well. ( I believe the iQue series has been discontinued). I like the TomTom 910 as it has bluetooth built-in. You can make and receive calls through it. To make calls, there is a touch screen keypad, or you can use the address book.

I suggest taking a look at this forum's Wiki for useful info.
