old iMac made a "bzzzzztttt" and turned off

like a capacitor popped, but then it turned right back on.

totally weird!

2010 iMac i3 on HS

I've had issues with the computer turning on after freezing on occasion, so it was actually surprising to have it not lag when turning off and back on immediately. but the concerning part was the electrical buzz that preceded the shut down. yikes!

A capacitor likely burned up. You should get the computer fixed, as the computer power is likely running out of spec, which will likely cause a total system failure soon.

I've replaced the power supply in our 2010 iMac twice.

Goes in the E-cycle bin next time.
