I wanted to thank everyone's responses to this thread. It was very insightful and not as bad as I thought.
I posted the same question in a local (Arkansas) Tesla forum. There were 25 respondents as of this evening. Only 13 of them reported incidents. Of those, it was all coal rolling and middle fingers (stretching back 4 years on average) except for 1 keying incident 3 years ago and someone hitting one with a hammer 2 years ago. And Arkansas is a pretty red state, so you can bet almost all of that hate were from conservatives, especially the coal rolling.
So based on the results here and the Tesla forum, it seems (even now) incidents are rare, and for all intents and purposes none were physical acts of vandalism.
