I don't know what number was up next for use, but F-47 has already been used. After WW II they dropped the "P" for pursuit designation for all planes in active use by the US Air Force when it was spun off from the Army in 1947 and they were given "F" numbers. They still were using P-47N models, those became F-47Ns which were in service with Air National Guard units until 1953.

The P-51s still in service became F-51s during this period

Backing up my earlier comment about this kind of air superiority no longer being necessary (or useful - an air force could absolutely command the skies but be unable to take out all the ground positions from which a defender's drone forces are launched and controlled):
