I think Roger mostly doesn’t like his playing, and he lost his crap. They mentioned he would have his favorite drummer on his solo tour, which I thought hinted at compromise on his part. Weirdly, I saw them and thought Starkey was really sloppy, and I was bummed I couldn’t even tell what Pino Palladino was playing (partly because Starkey was out of control). Idk. Older people get cranky, and I can see it happening.

I saw a video about his firing, by someone who thought Starkey is a great drummer. Couldn't figure out the reason, as he had been with the who for so many years. It was his thinking that there was a problem with the audio feeds to the players. The mixes etc...Causing players to not keep time....

Which is odd because they should be using IEMs and could certainly control their own mix. I don’t think Pete would tolerate using anything but IEMs since he has bad tinnitus. Maybe Roger refuses to use IEMs, as some people (especially older guys) won’t use them, but then that’s on him. Which is why I think it’s that he doesn’t like Starkey’s playing. I didn’t either, so I get it.
