Mac to PC network: VPN Alternatives to DAVE?
#1
Friends,

I work at a PC-based media company and have need to access files on the work server from my iMac C2D at home.

When attempting to connect to the specific server I need, I get an error message: "The finder cannot complete the operation because some data in 'smb://xxx.xxx.x.xx' could not be read or written. (Error code -36.)

I installed DAVE under a trial version, and I was able to connect without a problem. Now that the DAVE trial has expired, I'm looking for a shareware alternative. (Work will not pay for DAVE and since I'm off the clock at home, I'm not inclined to pay either).

Are there any other options to assist in connecting to a PC VPN?

Thanks in advance,

SR

AA,

I'm using Internet Connect. It does allow me to connect, but when I attempt (command-K) to connect to the server from the desktop, that is when I get the error message.

DAVE is likely the only way to go on this, from the Mac-side.

You have an Intel Mac...what about BootCamp/Parallels w/Windows to connect and transfer what you need, when you need it?
