Ahhh, Relaxing Evening Out To Eat...
#1
We went out tonight for my wife's b-day. My parents took our son (who turns two tomorrow) so we could have a relaxing meal. Enjoyable. Until we got to the restaurant and found a large party taking up one side. I loved hearing the kids scream and yell. God, I should of brought my own kid.

Not very relaxing. Food was good. Oh well. Felt like Friday the 13th...

Should have left. I leave more restaurants early than I eat in because of stuff like this. Too bad. My favorite is when the customers are looking frantically around and holding their bills. Bad sign.

We ate at a Slovakian restaurant here in Orlando this evening. Very relaxing, very good food, very nice wine. We are sooo lucky to have not one but TWO eastern european bistros around here. Good good stuff.

I, too, have come to appreciate the noises of children and babies in restaurants lately

It was a Chinese restaurant that my mom and I frequent at lunch time and my wife LOVES. So, she said that she wanted to go there for her b-day dinner so I said "sure". I'm not sure the kids bugged me that much. It was more of the fact that they wanted a private party w/o renting the whole place. Something about everyone standing up for 30 minutes and bullsh*tting before the left. I mean, they only had a 1/4 of the place and they had no respect for the rest of us.

I wasn't going to make a scene because we know them pretty well. However, I wanted to excuse ourselves before we ordered but my wife didn't want to.

Dinner was still good and they gave us a couple of bags of fortune cookies and almond cookies on the way out.

It's not all that unusual for Chinese restaurant to have a large party in one corner but make enough noise to echo the entire place.
