iMac as portable ?!?
#1
Last week someone pulled out an iMac 20" in a meeting. Said it was no trouble at all with his rolling briefcase. It was a nice presentation, and it happened to be in a room without a projector. When asked if he would buy a rumored 20" MacBook Pro, he said probably not because it would be too expensive.

It reminded me of my old Mac SE with a padded case.

There will never be a 20" MacBook Pro unless an entirely new, incredibly lightweight, foldable display technology comes along and is dirt cheap.

The entire tech world is STILL laughing at the company who came out with a 20" PC laptop, which gets a whopping 70 minutes battery life, weighs 12 pounds and has yet to get past Homeland Security unscathed.

We lug a 20" iMac to meetings and tradeshows. Makes a good impression.

I carry mine in an ilugger on a regular basis. Check their site often, I think I got mine for $89 on sale.

I brought mine to a training and used it to drive a presentation with keynote. Not something I would do a lot, but once every few years isn't so bad.

I should also mention that we take a 24" iMac to trade shows every now and again. The PC people are just AGOG when we pull it out of the box, plug it in and have the presentation up and running in roughly three minutes.

We've sold a couple of 24" iMacs to trade show people who had NO INTEREST in EVER running them as Macs. They just wanted an machine that could run Windows and be set up and packed away that fast and easy. It's all one piece, it's HUGE, it's a real crowd-drawer, and can work like a kiosk if you want. What's not to love? Smile
