Software Update Restart
#1
So, why doesn't Apple's Software Update continue downloading from where it left off when a connection is broken or stopped? It's a PITA when you have to start from the beginning again.

I don't break, or lose connections.
Makes the security better also.

$tevie, you are the definitive bicce.

You know $tevie, if you do not like what I write, put me on "Ignore", or just sod off.
Also what is the "Point" of your response $tevie?
I mean other then to get some of your pent-up rage and vitriolic bile?
Why don't you go back to AS and show your true nature and curse like a drunken $ailor and everyone who dares cross your path.

You have a wonderful Sunday $tevie, run off and play with your dolls like a good little girl!

So, how is all this bickering answering my question?

To be fair, you started this BNgR with your off the wall reply in the first place.

I can't imagine how apple expects dialup users to get 300mb system updates online. There's no reason it can't set up with resume functions.

BGNR is not here to help, but to get a sense of superiority by talking down to users with less knowledge. In his posts, he gives just enough info to show that HE knows the answer, but not enough to explain it to someone who needs help.

He'll deny it of course, but we all know the truth from reading his posts....

I am not here to help you bonehead, and yes, I am superior to nits like you hal.
There is no answer because there is no question here.
Norse was kvetching, and as I said before, the reason that SU does not "Resume" because it is a huge security hole. How you say?
Apple does a very thorough check to make sure that your Mac is really talking to the SU connection, then it does the download, then one more security check, if any of these steps don't check out, it either doesn't begin, or flushes all data from the SU.
If SU was allowed to resume, it would be quite easy for a faceless background app to listen for SU launch, grab the security check codes, break the connection, then send the SU program to an illicit site, and feed the SU the codes and have it resume downloading virii, or even uploading your data.
Apple won't even let trusted developers use SU because of security concerns.
