Yes! I have a MacBook Core 2 duo with 1GB memory.
I leave it on 24/7 and it just blasts through big units like mad.
I recommend InCrease, rather than F@H. Be sure to set the prefs to allow big units and for adv. methods. I am going through units worth 1760 points every day and a half!

with InCrease you can even tell it not to fold while you're on battery. it works surprisingly well.
