Could you please do me a favor? check a price on amazon.com

Please search for "m-tape", the first hit should be "Brother M231 1/2" Labeling Tape". What price do you get? now I get $8.96, but only a few days ago I got $5.90 or so, I should have bought a bunch then.

I am just trying to find out if Amazon indeed changes prices based on your previous search history, i.e. the cookies on your computer. I tried a different browser but that didn't help, and it would not surprise me if they also tracked and changed prices based on your IP.

BTW: I don't want to post a link since the URL is very long and I suspect might get an error, like invalid session.

thanks!

You snooze, you lose.

Amazon's prices fluctuate like that all the time. If it's something you intend to buy in quantity or often, put it in your cart--any time you open your cart page, Amazon alerts you if the price has changed.

that's a nice trick. I thought that once you put it in cart, they will not alert you if the price dropped, but I admit, I never tried it. Thanks

The alert is in the form of a box listing all the products whose price has changed, with the old and new pricess, up or down.

You'll see this once a day, when you click on My Cart/Your Cart/Whatever.

I think that if an item sits in your cart for a day or three, they start playing with the price to get you to buy.

That's your imagination, R@mbo. They'll stagnate for months then change. Has nothing to do with your particular potential sale.
