I don't want to sell my Powerbook...
#11
Well, I made the decision to keep my Titanium 867. That is one fine machine, and I just love the solid feel of the case - completely lost in the Aluminum lineup, IMO.

But when I got my MBP, I was getting my 1.5 AluBook ready to sell. My son tripped over the power cord and it fell, and the LCD backlight stopped working. As it turns out, this was a blessing in disguise, as this has now become out kitchen computer. I attached it to the 15" LCD TV in the kitchen, and it is now an important part of our life. The kids and my wife use it to quickly check email, the weather, wikipedia, google, recipes, etc. So, in a way, I'm glad I didn't sell it, because it is serving a very useful purpose. BTW, I've been running it closed for a few months now with the LCD TV base on top of it, and it is doing fine. I found some references online of people doing this for years with their PBs. I have no doubt that it is less than ideal, but it seems to work fine.

None of our machines collect dust. My TiBook is getting used now by my mother-in-law who is recovering from surgery.

If you don't really need the money badly, I would just keep it.

I understand. Sometimes giving up an old Mac feels like giving up a loyal pet.

Keep it for as long as you want. No guilt.

You people are sickos.

My wife is actually *using* her Pismo G3/500 and I'm using my Wallstreet G3/300 at home. Both are our primary computers.

Of course that's just 'cause we're cheap.

Hey, I've got my Mac SE30. Now that was a beast. It's rather tame now.

It's only a piece of electronics. You don't feel this way when you get a new television, do you?

I've got to try and boot up my SE/30 again one of these days...

Less than ideal for the already-destroyed LCD screen -- no problem for the rest of the computer.

I can relate. It is tough letting them go. I'm in the same boat with my Piz. I also have a Performa 405 (LCII) and a few baby Macs. Ha. I bet people can't wait to get rid of their PeeCees. A Vaio may be the exception.

I really like my PB12/1.33.. Really. It's like a fine watch.

I'm looking hard at a MBB. No matter how much I like it, I'll keep the PB. The iB will go, but the PB is here for good.

I've still got my Cube.
