How to Import Songs from a 3GiPod to a PC?
#1
I have a 90% full 3G iPod (FireWire only) that I would like to import into iTunes on my PC laptop via the USB port. It is my understanding that V7 of iTunes allows two way transfers. What is the best way of accomplishing this? Does anybody make a FireWire to USB converter and would this work?
I am open any and all suggestions.

I think you are going to have to get a FW PCMCIA card. I'm not aware of any FW to USB converters. Also, I don't think that any version of iTunes allows you to copy music from one machine to another using an iPod.

Thanks for your response.
I found via Google that D-Link use to make a combo hub that had 4 USB ports and 3 FireWire ports, but has discontinued manufacturing it. Even though, I don't know if that would have worked as one bus is Apples (400MB/sec) and the other is Oranges (2.0MB/sec).
There are some third party utilities (musicrescue) that allow 2-way transfers from and to an ipod. I may have to use one of those on my 32 bit PC that has a combo card in it before I do the final transfer to my laptop via Windows networking using a share disk drive.
