Hidden 'N' wireless cards
#1
I remember that Apple shipped some of their computers with 'N' wireless cards, but the 'N' features were disabled until Apple supplied an update that activated the feature. How does one tell if a MacBook was equipped with the 'N' spec card? My components in 'About this Mac' just show that it has an AirPort Extreme (0x168C, 0x87) with firmware version 1.0.47. Anyone have any information?

OK, so I probably have the 'N' card in our MacBook. Is there something that I need to do to turn on the feature or has Apple done that already in an update?

I went searching on Apple website and found the link for the enabler that Chas is talking about. I tried to link to it, but it broke

I also stumbled upon this:

I remember seeing this in a magazine or something and thinking those will never actually be sold. There they are. $300.
