Cousin Needs HSI w/ Dialup... Options?
#1
My cousin doesn't have a home phone or cable in her apartment but now needs internet access. She wants DSL or Cable HSI and needs to have dial-up when she's away. Anyone know if they cable companies give you dial up? What do you guys do?

Thanks for any options. I was going to help her get setup w/ earthlink however, she needs to have a working phone for DSL to work.

'Naked' DSL (no active telephone line) is available. Check http://www.dslreports.com/ to see what services are available to her zipcode/street address.

I've been using Allvantage for traveling dial-up for years. Costs $5.95/month.

Does she live in any of these cities covered by ClearWire?

And get a cheap dial up.

Does she have a cell phone? If she is in a metro area, and only has light usage, she should be able to get a data plan with a major cellphone carrier that should fit her needs. Unlimited access is around $50 a month, if she has a BT phone she can connect that way, or she may have to buy a cable for her phone. That will take care of the traveling, because anywhere she goes she should be covered, asuming she has a national plan.
