Who thinks the next gen iPod will be redesigned to take advantage of the iPhone touch-screen interface?

I would agree. It may even make it into the rumored slim Macbook Pro.

I would guess no. I think it takes away the special unique features of the iphone, which Apple has brillantly hyped for months. Maybe some day, but not soon.

A larger wider screen is a possibility, but getting rid of the scroll wheel collapses the distinction between an ipod and an iphone, and my guess is that Apple will want to maintain that split for now. Apple often does stuff that is counter intuitive and that drives us crazy.

Coverflow art on the ipod using the scroll wheel would be great though (this may be a feature on the current video ipods that I haven't noticed yet).

I never use cover flow. Half my music has no images, even after using utilities and itunes to find them. I hope they stick with the scroll wheel for a while. Although I'm guessing they will be ditching hard drives and have 64GB and 32GB flash models. Even though 64 is down from 80, they did the same thing when they went from a 6GB Mini to a 4GB flash Nano.
