A Leopard privacy complaint was brought to me...
#1
My friend's family iMac can search the contents of every account despite being switched out of the others. When he clicks on one of the predefined "smart" searches in the sidebar, documents etc. from all the other accounts are brought up as well.

If you click on the Spotlight icon it only searches the active account. Same with Command-F. Is anyone else having this as an issue?

[edit] I just checked my Macbook Pro and it does the same thing regardless of which account (I have 2) is active.

Are they all administrator accounts?

OK. Looks like it only finds content when you "recently" switch accounts. After about 20 minutes, the cross-accounts search only finds items on the "active" account. Hmmm. On each machine, only one account is allowed to administer.

That is rather curious. Is the search being performed by the admin account or another user?

I have. What's interesting mikebw, it repairs itself after about 10 minutes of switching accounts. It's not serious since I'm the only one on my Macs, but it's innerestin'

I'm reading up on the "smart search" features.
