[subject line edited for the persistent, nagging language nazis amongst us.]

As quoted from the article "McParking row as slow eaters are fined"

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/...34,00.html

If they stay too long, the details of the registered keeper of the vehicle are obtained from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), and he or she is billed.

I think that McD would dispute your subject line but they are associated.

They do not send out the fines and do not receive any of the money that is collected. The problem and similar ones are on the rise over here as more and more firms offload certain parts of their running to other companies. In this case the parking is run by a totally separate company who specialises in this work.

The car park of a small retail park in my local city, Norwich, is run by a company that has no connection to any of the stores that trade there and some of those stores are getting a bit fed up being blamed for these high parking charges. This particular park has several popular stores but the time limit is only 2 hours! A great number of people have been caught out by this with a significant percentage being elderly or disabled who take that much longer to do their shopping. The parking company do not appear to be sympathetic although at least have been persuaded to put up more obvious signs about the time limits as the ones they had originally could not be read while still in your car.

Even though McD contracted out the running of their parking lot, they should still beheld responsible for the actions of their agent, Civil Enforcement.
Unles they actually sold the parking lot to C E I believe civil law would still hold them culpable for the actions fo their agent. Now we just have to wait for someone to file a suit.
Who wants to bet that McD will cancel those contracts due to the court of public opinion.

Unbelievable. I'm waiting for them to contract out the seating inside, and then look the other way when thugs show up to drag you to curb...

All the fast food joints in the N.E. Heights in Albuquerque had a 30 minute parking limit during the 1970's. You also had to buy a minimum $$$ of food too.
Glendale in SoCal has limits too.
During the cruising days of VanNuys Blvd, the cops used to roust you out of parking lots.

But, they'd handle it in person, right? This is mailed to you home and you are not notified at the time of the infraction. In other words, no effort at mitigating by them was taken, imo.
