woot! New Parallels update. I can start my testing again
#1
This whole Boot Camp vs Parallels vs VMWare Fusion thing has been dragging on and on. I did a ton of tests but it was so difficult to find tests I could run in all three solutions. Plus I was doing XP vs Vista testing in all three as well.

Then I got Vista SP1 and it didn't run with Parallels. It seemed like at any given point, if I ran the tests they wouldn't yield up-to-date or realistic results. Plus I got really busy with work.

An update for Parallels came out today http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/212...ls-desktop

So I've run all the updates, got everything patched... and am freezing all the software as of today for testing.

Already got some initial tests done.

There are a lot of Fusion fans. But I've never, ever had one glitch with Parallels so far. I'm about to see if QuickBooks Windows' networking feature works with it.

Are you using Vista or XP?

All afternoon I've been running test in Vista Ultimate SP1 and thus far Parallels is beating Fusion. I'm somewhat surprised because my results a few months ago in XP were the other way around. Those tests were also run with 2GB of RAM, and now I'm testing with 4GB of RAM.

Now, have you started testing the Fusion 2 beta?

Nope, not gonna do the beta to start. But I've decided to divide it up into small sections of tests, and in a duplicatable way. So then when the Fusion 2.0 final comes out I can test it.
