Another example of why to have your work agreements in writing...

Had a project I was working on with a client. The business partners essentially split the company in half. It was a small project and it started before I had my new contracts drawn up. It's one of those things where planning could take about as long as execution.

So now I have to explain to the clients how that impacts the work I was doing for them. Had I spelled it out in writing before I wouldn't have to explain it to them or be concerned that they wont agree.

well, but now you have two clients. just bill both of them.

Yeah, it just comes down to an issue of ownership and who gets what. That's not so obvious to people who aren't familiar with how IP works.
